Digital, Interactive and Web TV

Interactive Examples - Chicken Tonight

This was Open's first interactive TV. Broadcast on 27 March 2000, and promoting the cooking sauce Chicken Tonight, it allowed viewers to request a coupon for a free jar of the sauce.Whilst the advert is running a red "Press Now" appears in the top left corner. On pressing the red button on their remote control, viewers are taken to the on-screen "Creative Kitchen" where they can view recipe suggestions (complete with video clip instructions) or request a money off coupon. As viewers have already registered with Sky Digital (the lead owner of Open), there is no need to enter their names and address. The request is sent from the set-top box to Open via the in-built modem and the subscriber's telephone line. From Open the data is then sent to Van Den Bergh Foods, the maker of Chicken Tonight. Open is available to all of Sky's digital viewers.
